Great and powerful Daniel,
I would like the ability to trim points based on the vertical count in the Scalar Field. Anything that fell below the red line could be trimmed out. I could find no way to do this currently but know the information is there in the histogram. I could also find nothing in the ToDo list that shows a feature like this. Ideally this would purge the the points that fell below the line
So I would have soemthing like this after

Im a little unsure of what I might get too. My goal was to identify walls and floors using it.
It made sense by converting the height value to SF, that when the points clustered together I would see floor, drop ceiling, and actual ceiling.
First I convert Z to SF
Then I trim to the spikes From the side it looks like

I was hoping to use it on walls, this is a much longer manual process. But here it is run on one axis.
It would be like the labeled connected components tool, but instead of looking for clusters or points, it looking at clusters of SF results.
