How to determine the scale factors

Post by kaarigar »

I have a point cloud which needs scaling in X, Y and Z - however I don't have a clear idea to determine the scale factors. I have a ruler on ground whose length I know. So I think I should be able to scale the point cloud in X and Y. But I don' know what's the scale factor for X and Y. Perhaps I can have the same process to scale in Z if I have to known height in Z. Can someone help me with this? Thank you in advance!

Not sure if this helps, but you can pick two points with the 'Point picking' tool (see https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... ints_label). You'll be able to read the dimensions of the corresponding vector along each dimension. Maybe it will help you determine the right scales?
