Dip and strike

Post by Colinmazengarb »

Hi Daniel and others,

I have tried the fit plane function from which dip and strike are automatically calculated. I am not sure that the dip is being calculated correctly. Specifically I have a gently dipping surface and yet dip = 80 degrees (near vertical according to the convention for structural geology). I would believe 10 degrees is more like it. The dip value should be calculated from horizontal. Can someone else check that this is happening to them as well?

Indeed the displayed value is '90 - dip'. As I'm not a structural geologist, I totally missed that ;).

The bug has already been fixed on the Github repository. It we'll be available in the next release ... sorry about that.
