Hi all.
I have a PCD file which includes 18,931,847 points.
If I use this file on the CloudCompare, the rendering speed is slow.
My environments:
OS: Windows 10 x64
CPU: Intel i7-8700 3.7GHz
RAM: 64GB
GPU: Nvidia TITAN Xp 64GB
Cloud Compare: Version 2.11 alpha
I think my hardware spec is enough.
I set the Cloud Compare program's graphic option to 'High Performance' in Windows 10 Graphic setting, but it is not improved.
Is there any solution to improve the rendering speed?
How to speed up rendering the point cloud?
Re: How to speed up rendering the point cloud?
I guess you don't have multiple graphic cards on this machine (such as a laptop with an Intel chipset and a real GPU?).
Can you share the cloud with us maybe? (admin [at] cloudcomapre.org). Because 19M. is definitely not big ;)

Re: How to speed up rendering the point cloud?
What do you mean by slow rendering? Is it just slower than you would expect based on that high end hardware or is it stuttering, or giving lower a lower frame rate compared to a lower end system?
Can you run the frame rate test which should be in the display menu drop down.
Also make sure you turn off the decimate cloud option in the display settings. You can definitely fit the entire cloud in vram so if the software is trying to dynamically decimate the cloud it will be slow transferring the newly decimated cloud back to the GPU over and over again
