Hello, i'm new to pointcloud. now i get a .e57 file larger than 100G. I want to convert .e57 to another format like .ply, so that i can import the data into Unity for a AR-project.
But my computer memory is only 16g. Everytime when i tried to import this file, it will report an error“not enough memory”. So i want to ask, is there a way to open this data in cc or transform the data in other ways?
Thanks in advance
about loading files
Re: about loading files
You mean 100Gb?!
You could maybe try to change the Windows parameters to allow for this much virtual memory... but the time to load and process the data would be huge! And you'd better use the command line mode.

Re: about loading files
Yeah, it works through changing the virtual memory.
This data includes point clouds and raster. I was wondering if it's possible to separate the point clouds and raster, so that i can reduce the number of the points. But i haven't found in cc command line mode a related method. Do you have any suggestion for this?
Thanks in advance!

Re: about loading files
Yes, that's probably only possible via the GUI version... (with 'Edit > Grid > Delete scan grids'). Maybe if you start the GUI version, close the 3D view, and load the file after that, it won't be displayed in 3D and CC should remain 'interactive' so as to let you remove the scan grids?

Re: about loading files
Oh wait, I believe CC cannot load scan grids from E57 files anyway. So just loading and saving the file again should work.
Or do you mean maybe that the E57 file contains images? (not scan grids?). In which case you can maybe try to export the cloud to another file format? (that don't support images = most of them but the BIN format)
