Hi Daniel.
On my workflow i need the .vdb format to import. Using some vdb visualizer inside Maya. It would be great have this as option as save format.
Thanks
Open VDB, .vdb format
Re: Open VDB, .vdb format
Hum, VDB is interesting indeed, but I'm not sure how it handles unorganized point clouds? Does anyone know more about VDB?
Anyway I can add this request to the TODO list (however it's hard to tell when it will be implemented, if it ever will be ;) ).

DoubleNegative had a fork called OpenVDB Points adding point cloud support :
https://github.com/dneg/openvdb_points_dev
It has been merged back upstream

Re: Open VDB, .vdb format
It would be cool to have CC support OpenVDB.
In the meantime though, if anyone's looking for a method to convert point clouds to VDB I'd recommend Houdini.

This is the youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/TheBesha1/ ... _polymer=1
where you can see the use in Maya. What i want to achive is to use the flexibility and the fastest in viewport of the VDB. My work concerning the modeling inside maya visualizing the Point Cloud inside maya. A openVDB exporter from CloudCompare would be great, with colors and/or with heightField.
P.S.
Daniel, i know is a huge work, but if you considering a porting of clouCompare directly inside Maya with the ability to draw or create curves or using the ModelingTool to make surfaces/poly. I think there are more artist that can buy and want this.
Think about it.
Cheers

Frankly, due to the fact that you were the only one to request it, unless you find a super motivated developper who would have the exact same need, I don't see how such a feature can be prioritized over the hundred ideas already in the TODO list ;) https://github.com/CloudCompare/CloudCo ...
