Linear Dimensioning

Post by DDRdan »

I am hoping to use this software to compile scans of my boat deck and then use CAD DXF export for developing EVA carpet shapes to cut on my CNC table router.

Before I download and install I need to ask:

Does it have a linear dimensioning feature? It's not a necessity but would be helpful in evaluating which cut sections I need in the scan nesting process before export to dxf.

Will it compare scans with multiple scan origin points and still compile them? All the tutorials I've seen have multiple scans from the same scan origin point.

If it will compile multiple scan origins is using targets a good method for accuracy with this software? Or are targets unnecessary?

Thanks for any help!

Not sure about the linear dimensioning feature (so we probably don’t have any, or we don’t call it this way).

Otherwise yes, you can register/alugn different clouds. If they are mostly similar, or have at least enough parts that are similar you can combine a manual rough registration and then an automatic ICP registration. Otherwise, it may be more accurate to register the clouds by picking equivalent pairs (if there are clearly identifiable features) or use spheres for the best accuracy/robustness.
