[FIXED] Issue loading las files and curvature

Post by APMcClune »

I have downloaded the latest version of Cloud Compare after the error that was noted in the curvature calculation, but now it appears not to load my las files. Mainly the software crashes and has to be closed but one time I did get an error message saying that the file did not have read access. These are type 1.2 las files and loaded on the previous version that I had?

I have loaded csv files into Cloud Compare and when I try to compute the curvature on these I get another error which crashes Cloud Compare.

Are there any suggestions as to why these errors are occurring?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi,

I can't reproduce the error (I tried with various samples taken from here: http://www.liblas.org/samples/).

What version are you using exactly? On which OS?

Otherwise can you share a (small) sample dataset with me? (cloudcompare [at] danielgm.net)

Hello,

I was using the latest version (v2.5.4) in 32 bit on windows. However, I have downloaded and installed the 64 bit version and I am now able to load the las files into Cloud Compare.

Thanks for your help,

Andrew

Interesting! I'll check the 32 bits version right away...

So to close this subject, it appeared that there was indeed an issue with libLAS on the 32 bits version only (very strange issue by the way, I've found a workaround but I still haven't understood the problem). I've updated the online version (same version number because I'm lazy ;).
