Cloud/mesh surface compare

hey guys,
currently i am working on a research that requires to measure the mean distance and show a histogram of a certain surface of a 3d model to another surface to another 3d model.

in the picture i am trying to measure the distance between the lower surface of the smaller mesh to the surface where the arrow points.
what do you think the best thing to do ? can i select a certain area to compare it to the other mesh ?

Sorry for the late answer. You'll have to manually segment the part of the mesh(es) you are interested in I guess. Either with the scissors tool if the mesh is dense, or with the Cross Section tool (which makes cleaner cuts, but only inside a box).
