opening bin .e57 file latest cc version

Hi team,
massive fan of the software! thank you.
I have recently installed CC v2.12.4 via flapack , ubuntu distro.

Installed fine, opens fine, now that i import .ply file saved from previous version CC i get asked if i wish to import massive file size, (which is odd because the file is 176 Mb)
I am then greeted with the import window showing me the following:
Open Bin File (old Style)
cloud 1/ 175,729,776
this slowly progresses through 1,2,3,4,5...... I have not waited to reach any further.
CC crashes at opening file 5 out of 175 Million (not surprising really!)
Never faced this issue before, any help / thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hum, that's definitely an issue with Small and Big Endianness. I thought this was 'working' on Linux, but maybe not for files generated with very old versions? Do you have the possibility to open this file with the version 2.12 of CC on Windows, save it again, and then try to open the resulting file on Linux?
