how to find out depressions/dips/low points

hi

i want to detect/mark the depressions/dips/low points on grounds. please guide how to do it.

Do you have an example cloud / screenshot maybe?

i want to find out the dips like i encircled them. these are below the plane surface.. may be 1 feet or less than that....

i need to know.. how to find out the dips or depression areas...

Ah, that's a small screenshot ;)

Hard to know how it will work, but you could first try to extract the ground points with the 'CSF' plugin. Make sure to use the latest version of CC as this plugin was improved. And ask the plugin to export the ground mesh also. If it gives a good result, you might be able to compute the distances between the original cloud and this mesh, so as to better identify the points 'below' the ground.

By the way, it might also be interesting to inverse the Z coordinates (with 'Edit > Multiply/Scale' and using -1 for the Z dimension only). And then apply again the CSF plugin. You might get as 'non-ground' points the points you are interested in.
