Importing obj with texture does not work reliably

Post by JohnSpring »

Hi!
When I import an .obj with a texture, the Windows version of CC can rarely and lately never read and apply the texture.
On the other hand, it works with the mac version.
The Windows MeshLab version for example can read and apply the texture, though.
Is that a bug, or am I merely drawing a blank? I was wondering how the link between obj, tex and mtl is processed when importing. Somehow, all my meshes are black.

Hum, that's a bit weird. Is there a message in the console that says that it failed to read the texture image for isntance?

Can you maybe share an example with me? (admin[at]cloudcompare.org). Don't forget the mtl and texture image file indeed.

Hi

I am having the same issue but in Mac ARM.
When I open .obj files I have an error mit the mtl file, even though it is in the same folder.
It was working fine before (do not remember the version I was using but one from last year).
Since I download the last version (v.2.13.0) it is not working.
I had to update to this version because the animation render was not working.

I will send all files and screenshots to (admin[at]cloudcompare.org).Thanx!

you should check the mtl. file, if the value of transparency is 0. (the value 1 means fully transparent)
