Hi,
I'm using CC to manage cloud points and mesh for driving simulations. I'm wondering if is possible to smooth only in the Z axis.
Actually is possible to look at the roughness of the road mesh (or cloud), but I don't find any method to smooth only the elevations in order to get rid of the surface discontinuity.
Thank you very muchfor your help
Smooth only Z values for road analysis
Re: Smooth only Z values for road analysis
Sorry for the delay, I was abroad and I missed your message.
I guess you are referring to the 'Laplacian smooth' operation? If yes, then it would be easy to only displace the vertices along one or several axes (even if I'm not sure what the result would look like). Do you have the ability to compile the code on your side (to do a quick test)? Or maybe just a sample mesh file so that I can generate a test output? (you can send it to 'cloudcompare [at] danielgm.net')

Re: Smooth only Z values for road analysis
Bump.
Any updates with this question Daniel? I am after something similar? I have a bumpy road and need to smooth isolated high z values with the normal trend.

I was hoping someone would test this on his/her side ;)
