Hi,
I would like to know whether there is a (preferably straightforward) way to flip/rotate/transform a point cloud based on view. i.e. what is currently the 'set left side view', I would like to be the 'set top view'.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
Transformation Matrix for View-Based Orientation
Re: Transformation Matrix for View-Based Orientation
Hi,
Well if it's simply a matter of transforming the cloud from let say 'Y' as vertical dimension to 'Z ', then you could very simply apply a transformation (with 'Edit > Apply transformation' - 2nd tab) of 90 degrees about the X axis.
Otherwise, if it's more complicated, you have to play with the 'align camera' option of the DB tree context menu (works with plane primitives or planar labels - see http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/in ... ntext_menu) or the new 'Tools > Level' tool (http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/in ... itle=Level) which lets you click 3 points so as to define the horizontal plane. The issue with those later methods is that the orientation in the horizontal plane is hard to control.
