Using 3D display with CloudCompare?

Post by Remi-C »

Hey,
I tried searching the forum but came with nothing.

Is there any way to use a 3D display (my screen is a stereosterescopic screen with active synchronized glass) with CloudCompare?

I ask this out of curiosity, because I'm quit sure the answer is no.

Cheers,

In fact, the answer is yes if you have the NVidia 3DVision glasses and a recent GeForce card (or a Quadro).

It has been integrated a few weeks ago:

It works with the latest 2.6.3 beta (use the '3D stereo' icon in the left 'view' toolbar and choose the '3D vision' glass type). Warning: you'll have to follow the instructions to the letter!

Hey,
it seems that every time I ask for a new feature it is already implemented !

It works in anaglyph mode, but not in stereo mode with a passive zalman screen.
(GT640 as graphic card, CC 2.6.3 Beta )
(error message of cloudcompare : "Quad buffering not supported")

Thanks anyway :-)

Quad buffering may not be available on a GT6XX. It was limited to Quadro cards for a while, and then it has been extend to some GeForce cards (I don't know if there's an official list). You'll also need a recent driver.

By the way, with the NVidia vision toolkit you have to explicitly enable the stereo mode support in the GeForce control panel (not sure which stereo system you have on your side...).
