I think it would be very useful for many users to have a functionality that allows for running viewshed analysis with CloudCompare, in a similar way that GIS software does, thank your for the development of this great software,

Not sure if it's exactly what you were expecting, but the Raterize tool now has a 'Hillshade' tab:

It's already available in the 2.6.3 beta version (online).
