M3C2 pause

Post by adririquelme »

Hi everyone,

I would like to make a proposal of an improvement. M3C2 distance is great, but it requires many resources. Once it has started, it can't be paused, so I would like to propose a PAUSE button, so that we can continue working with our computer while it is computing.

By the way, congrats Daniel for your software.

Maybe it would be even better to set the number of cores that are used by the process.

I'll add this to the TODO list.

Okay it's done! There's a new field in the 'advanced' properties to set the max number of threads/cores.

And it also works with qCanupo and the distance computation tool.

You can test is with the latest online beta version right now (the transfer was not complete the last time :D).

A simple way to use your computer at the same time than M3C2 is running, is to change the priority of Cloudcompare to "low" in the task manager...then, if you're not working, it will use all cores, but if you need to work on something else, you'll have priority over CLoudcompare for the CPU ressources

Yes, but now you can really choose the number of cores :D
