User Account on Windows

Post by wer »

Hi!
Is there anybody knowing issues that cloudcompare needs admin permission to render a ply file containing faces? After starting cloud compare and loading a 3d mesh (500 Mb) CloudCompare shows a black rendered point cloud while loading the same file with admin permissions CloudCompare shows it correctly. My system is a Win 10 64b, having a quadro k3100m. I use the CloudCompare 2.6.2 7z archive version.

thanks in advance for your appreciated answer

I know that some quadro drivers have a kind of kind of 'security' mechanism that detects when the rendering takes too long. But in this case the driver was issuing an error and CC could even crash ;).

Maybe this is a similar (even though less problematic) issue? The fact that it works in admin mode makes me think it may be related to security.

As I don't own any Quadro it's hard to investigate myself on these kind of issues...
