Greetings from Nepal,
I am currently doing a research with Terrestrial Laser Scanner (Faro Focus 3D) for biomass estimation. I am an undergraduate student and don't have much knowledge on how this all works. I found that estimating biomass is possible after estimating volume of the trees from TLS.For volume estimation i saw a research paper which used voxel modelling with Cloud Compare see the link
http://www.int-arch-photogramm-remote-s ... 1-2014.pdf . By looking at this paper i couldn't figure out the process he followed in cloud compare. Can anyone please help me understand the processes invloved in the link attached.
Thank you so much. I look forward to hear from you wonderful people.
Cheers

How to estimate volume using Voxel Modelling-terrestrial laser scanner
Re: How to estimate volume using Voxel Modelling-terrestrial laser scanner
I'm not sure if they really used CC other than for cleaning/trimming the clouds... You'd better ask the authors directly.
When you compute the octree in CC, you can read a rough estimation of the volume (change the 'level' in the octree properties - and don't hesitate to make it visible to see what the cells/level correspond to). But it's much coarser/simpler than the proposed algortihm.
