Registering 2 clouds from paired points

Hi,
I am having trouble registering 2 CPs from different set up by paired points.
I can select one PC and pick off points but can't seem to subsequently select
2nd PC. Can you tell me what I am likely to be doing wrong.
regards

Can you hide the first cloud (with the checkbox in front of the yellow or red 'show XXX cloud' labels)? Does it help?
Otherwise could you post a snapshot of your screen?

HI Daniel,
Figured that part out...must hightlight both PC's then select Tools-registration..
but after selection common points (targets) still can't get 2 PC's into sympathy.
Presumably it doesn't matter which is Reference or to align as we are not geo referencing.
Tried rotating one PC using rotate command and then doing fine registration (ICP) but this didn't work.
I note that when I save (project?) as .bin file and re-open only the first PC is there. Could
this have anything to do with my difficulties, or is it just that I can't manipulate the PC
accurately enough to properly pick off common points in each PC.

When you select the 'Save' option, only the selected entities are saved (so you have to highlight both clouds to save them in a single BIN file).
Can you show what your targets selection look like (for both clouds). You have to select them exactly in the same order. And avoid near-perfect symmetries or selecting them all on a single plane, etc.

Hi Daniel,
Having trouble getting screen grabs onto this page.
Can you please tell me what's the best way to copy screen grabs
in order to show graphically.

When you type a message:
- click on the 'upload attachment' tab and then on the 'browse file' button.
- select the image on your disk (then click on the 'Open' button). Make sure the file type is standard (jpg, png, bmp) and not too big (so prefer jpg to be sure ;)
- cLick on the 'add the file' button next to the filename
- The image (name) will appear in a 'POSTED ATTACHMENTS' section below the message
The image will appear a the end of the message (you can check it with the 'Preview' button).
- cc_post_image.jpg (23.23 KiB) Viewed 2385 times
Optionally, you can place the image at some particular point:
- place your cursor in the text where you want to display the image
- eventually click on the 'Place inline' button
If something doesn't work, you can also send me the image directly (cloudcompare [at] danielgm.net).
