Cloudcompare stops working at start

Greetings,

I've been using CloudCompare for a few weeks now, mainly to slice up 3D volumes from GPR surveys. So far it has been performing briliantly, however, I installed ESRI Arcgis this morning on the same computer, and now CloudCompare refuses to start.
It starts, shows the startup image and crashes after 2-3 seconds. I allready tried a fresh install of CloudCompare, tried to start via start.bat and deleted the extra folders (plugins etc) as decribed in a thread regarding the same problem from about 1.5y ago.
Below is the problemsignature from the crash, it is however in Dutch.
Probleemhandtekening:
Gebeurtenisnaam van probleem: APPCRASH

Evil ESRI ;)

It seems to be a graphic card issue (I guess atig6txx is a DLL of the ATI driver).

Can you maybe try to re-install the driver ?

You can also try to disable all advanced display options (shaders, VBO, etc.) but you may not be able to do this if the program crashes too fast ;).

Eventually you can try with the latest version if you don't have it yet? (2.6.1)

Hi Daniel, it seems that ESRI doesn't play nice :@

Did a fresh install of the VGA driver and of CloudCompare, both solutions didn't help.
After that I replaced to dll files, atig6txx.dll and atio6axx.dll, which helped a little bit it seems.
At least, when I start CloudCompare now, the program actually starts, I can see the main UI, but then it crashes again,
this time with the following:
Probleemhandtekening:
Gebeurtenisnaam van probleem: APPCRASH
Naam van de toepassing: CloudCompare.exe
Versie van toepassing: 0.0.0.0
Tijdstempel van toepassing: 5515b69b

This one however seems a bigger problem. If I try to replace anything, it refuses to start completely after that...

Interesting... and confusing ;). I really wonder what Arcgis can do to break everything...

First, what do you mean exactly by 'replacing' a DLL file?

And Qt5 is only used in the latest version (2.6.1) so just for the test, can you fall back to 2.6.0? You can download if from http://www.cloudcompare.org/release/Clo ... up_x64.exe.

I'll try the previous version when I get home!
By replacing, I mean literaly that, I deleted the old ones in the window/system32 folder and replaced them with new ones. I first tried to reload the old ones, but they appeared broken.
It looks like it half worked, but now we got that other problem :)

Hi Daniel, apologies for the delay, some real life issues caught up with me!
Anyway, I installed the 2.6.0 version this morning, and that ran without a problem. However, as it lacks the option to save multiple slices in one go to .asc format, I got a bit stuck.
So I thought, my pc has this version running now, 2.6.1 is in sé just an upgrade from this one, let's try again. So I uninstalled 2.6.0, reinstalled 2.6.1 and now this one is working aswell again!

No idea what just happened or fixed the mess it was making...

Seeing as I uninstalled Arcgis again when this whole thing started, I have install that again as well. Hopefully both programs keep on working afterwards!
If not, I'll report back here, seeing as in that case, ArcGis causes something to go wrong with CC...

Thanks for the feedback. I hope it will work ;).

Besides the graphic card driver, CC relies on the 'Visual Studio Redistributable' package that is silently installed by the installer... But I really don't see how Arcgis could mess with it. Do you use/install the Faro plugin?
