Faro .fls files

Hello,

Very new to this forum. Just downloaded CloudCompare today and I'm hoping to do a Point Cloud Translation and Scale from Ground to UTM Grid Coordinates. Very excited to begin using this software, but right now I'm kind of stuck.

I'm trying to locate the qFaro pluging to import some Faro Scans we collected. Has this plugin been removed?

My system is:

Windows 7 64 bit. Installed the latest version of CloudCompare 2.6.1

I would rather keep the point cloud in .fls format if possible for collaboration reasons. But I'm sure I could compromise and convert it to a .e57 or something to keep the process moving forward.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

For the FARO plugin, you'll need to use the installer. During the installation configuration don't miss the 'Install Faro I/O plugin' option otherwise the plugin won't be installed by default.

And sadly you won't be able to save your files to the FARO format (that's currently not supported). But E57 should work fine.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions and give us some feedback.

Thanks for your quick response. I'm sure that's what happened. Now that you mention it, I did use the .7z version instead of the installer. I'll reinstall and see if that does the trick.

Thanks again.

So I suppose I can't create the FARO plugin at compiling time in Linux. Am I right?

Indeed, because:
- up to my knowledge, there's no FARO SDK available on Linux
- you'll need a developer license anyway...
