I have some scans from a Faro Focus3D where the color is captured in a panoramic image. When I open these scans in Cloud Compare, I have a choice of using the RGB or reflectance values. However, choosing RGB however does not import any color.
When I open the the same scans in ReCap, the color is imported, which is apparently projected onto the points from the image. However, exporting an E57 file from ReCap, has no color.
Is it true that color that is not directly sampled at the point when its captured (as in the case of the projected image) has limited support?

Re: Point Cloud color
Indeed. I think there's already a thread (on this forum or on the laser scanning forum) about this. The Faro LS SDK doesn't handle the re-projection of the color information from associated pictures.
There was a possibility that the other SDK (Faro Open *something*) could do it properly (or at least give access to the necessary info). But:

- at that time we had issues making the Open SDK work (now it's fixed)
- I haven't got any clear answer from FARO about how to do this exactly

Are there some updates regarding the Import of colored faro .fls pointclouds?

Re: Point Cloud color
Nope. It's hard to find the time to work on this kind of subject. I'm not even sure the 'Open' SDK will actually help.
