conversion to .ase format

Hello,

I would like to convert an very dense pointcloud to .ase format.

To do this, actually : I open a pointcloud, save it as .obj, and make .ase conversion in 3dsmax. It's possible to open an .obj file in max when it doesn't exceed 5 millions polys. Problem : after this number, I can't open an .obj because 3dsmax crashes. So I can't create any .ase...

Do you know a method, or is there a way in CloudCompare to convert a very dense pointcloud or very dense mesh to .ase format ?
or do you think this sort of converter could be inplemented into Cloudcompare ?

Ben,

Did you mean .ASC instead of .ASE?

Have you tried Meshlab, VTBuilder or Microdem?

No, no, I really mean .ASE format.

My .obj mesh is really eavy (it's a Lidar, over 40 millions polys) , and I need to convert it as .ASE format.

A converter like obj2ase.exe would be great, if a developper knows how to do this...
Or do you know a place to contact developpers would egree to create this ?

The ASE format is the "ASCII Scene Exporter" format of 3D Studio.

Here are more information about this format:

Implementing a converter would take about one or two days... it's a lot of work for a very specific format. Are you willing to finance such an addition?
