make fit an existing mesh on a pointcloud

Hi,

I've modelised a flat road, and I would like it fit directly on a pointcloud.

In 3dsmax, there is a command called "conform". It works to conform a mesh (a road) to an other mesh (sphere / topography...)
It works fine, but there is a long process to create a lidar-mesh, export it to 3dsmax, and make fit with "conform" command.
Other inconvenient : if there is a dirt polygon on the lidar mesh, you must clean, re-create a lidar mesh, re-export........

It would be really more fast and more confortable if we have possibility to export a 3d mesh in CloudCompare, make it fit on the pointcloud, and make corrections on pointclouds if needed, before make fit mesh again.

Is it possible to create this tool (or maybe it already exists ?)

Thanks

Hum, doesn't look that easy to me! It's like non-rigid registration, and it's very slow if you have more than a few thousands of points (therefore I think it's quite a good idea to use a mesh instead of a point cloud).

I doubt this kind of tool can magically come out for free ;). But who knows...
