Alignment two point clouds

Hi,
I have made the experience that registering subsets of larger (in terms of spatial point distribution) point clouds and then applying the transformation to the original data cloud works best for my purposes.
However, now I've got a dataset where, when applying the transformation matrix, the data cloud shifts different than the subset. Thus, the alignment doesn't work.
Any ideas why this is? I've never experienced this behavior with other datasets.
Best
Sascha
EDIT:
Ok, I've found out that in the Transformation history of both layers (original data cloud after Transformation and subset after ICP) different values appear for Axis and Angle. The center is the same.
