Hi all,
I'm quite new to cloudcompare and am looking for a solution to my alignment problem.
We have carried out 6 scans down a mine and picked up a number of spheres throughout.
Am I able to cut the top off the mine and align the scans this way? At the moment I am picking up a number of points on the outside of the mine to align and merge the scans, and they are not aligning correctly in a number of places. It would be nice if I could "peer" inside the scans and align them this way rather than segmenting each scan and exporting each scan.
My second question is, is there a way to rename all the scans in the DB tree? As I segment the scans and export each one the DB is getting quite crowded and would like to organise the scans in a more logical manner.
Thanks for your help.
Mine alignment and registration
Re: Mine alignment and registration
You have two options:
1) switch to 'perspective mode' (F3). This way the points behind the camera will be hidden (you can 'walk' inside the cloud). And optionally you can play with the 'Near clipping plane' position (in the 'Display > Camera Settings' dialog).
2) you can segment the original clouds (to remove the parts that bugs you) with the 'scissors' tool. Then use the segmented cloud to perform the alignment. And eventually copy the resulting registration matrix (from the Console or from the aligned cloud 'transformation history') and apply it to the original cloud (with 'Edit > Apply tranformation')
