Exporting Plane properties

Post by westergu »

Hi,
Can anybody help me in about how to export the plane properties (multiple planes) into i.e. a txt-file, or is it even possible?
I have created several planes with the "Fit plane" tool from clouds gained via the "Point list picking" tool (which is btw a great tool). What I now would like to have is a list (table) of the center coordinate and dip/dip dir of all the selected planes. Can this be done in CloudCompare?
Hopefully somebody has the answere.

Best Regards,
Gustav Westerlund

Ah, that's funny, I had the exact same need yesterday. The new version is about to be released soon, I'll try to update the 'Export to CSV' tool of the qFacets plugin (that does exactly that for facets objects) so that it can accept planes.

I'll keep you updated.

Okay, in the end I added a new dedicated method ('Tools > Batch export > Export plane(s) info').

It will be available in the 2.9 official release (that should come out very soon, so stay tuned!).

Hi Daniel, thank you for the new functionality of 'export plane info'.
I would to say that I think that it could be really useful add the RMS value of the fitted plane in the CSV file.
Cheers

Ah, indeed, but sadly the RMS is not a property of the plane entity (some planes are manually created with the Primitive Factory or the new 'Edit > Plane > Create' tool, and they don't have any RMS attached). Therefore the batch process can't export it.
