Minimum size of an area / minimum of points for the „Segment“-Tool?

I have a question concerning the „Segment“-Tool (via EditSegment): Is there a minimum size of an area so that i can use that tool?....I mean, if i have any point cloud and i want to segment a tiny area, what is the minimum of points that segment has to have so that i can cut it out?

You must draw a closed polygon, so you need to use at least 3 segments. But there's no contraint on the area. And you can even segment only one point out.
