Hi Daniel or Other Competent users.

I have a vessel which i know is approximately 70m^3 (Volume).

I am using the Compute 2.5D Volume tool to verify this volume. I have changed the grid values to optimize the "correct volume" and selected interpolate to fill in the missing cloud values. I have even clipped a small hole at the end of the vessel to project the point cloud grid, however i am not getting the correct result. Do you have any recommendations as to what i am not doing or doing wrong ? The volume i am consistanly getting is approximately 28m^3

Are you sure of the cloud units?

And what kind of reference do you use? (another cloud or a flat plane?)

Can you maybe share the cloud(s) with me? (admin [at] cloudcompare.org)

Yes the point cloud units are being exported in metres from recap, how can i check if they are being imported into cloud compare in metre units,
or does cloud compare only import projects in metres.

When selecting the compute 2.5D volume tool, it asks me to select two point clouds. So i basically just clone the point cloud so i can select two.

Then I use following the procedure as per the link https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... .5D_Volume

Then I cut a small section at the end / top of the cylindrical vessel and then project and optimise the grid through the vessel. For the Ceil/After option i select the source as Constant.

I would very much like to share the clouds with you, however they take up 147mb (2 scans) and won't send over email. Is there a link you can provide me to which i can upload the .e57 file for your viewing (.e57 drags and drops into cloud compare).

CloudCompare reads the coordinates as they are stored in the file. If it's meters, then it should be read as meters (you can check that thanks to the scale that appears in the lower right part of the 3D view).

For the need to select two clouds, it looks like an old bug. Which version are you using?

And yes I would very much like to see the cloud. Can you send it via Google Drive or Dropbox maybe (or even more simply WeTransfer?). Otherwise I can provide you with an access to an FTP server.
