I recently installed cloudcompare but I can't seem to open any files including ply, obj or stl files?

Do you mean that you get error messages?

My scans are from nextengine (scanstudio) if that helps

I can now open files in cloudcompare when opening directly from file explorer (still not directly from cloudcompare) but cannot open multiple files into one cloudcompare window

Weird... Which version are you using?

Hi Grace,

I'm using the same scanner (NextEngine) and I have no issues in opening any files. I'm just curious, what are you using it on? happy with it?

Thanks :)

Hello,

I have the following problem:

I import a point cloud as .bin, then I export it as .las but when I am trying to re-import it on CC
all the scalar fields are lost except for the "intensity".
Do I do something wrong when I am exporting the file?

I also get an error while I am trying to re-import on CC, even though I am changing the filter as you have proposed in other relevant topics.

I am using version 2.9.1.

Thank you!

LAS files only support some specific scalar fields with very particular names (see the LAS specifications). So any 'unknown' scalar field will be ignored by CC.

However, with the latest versions (2.11 and maybe also 2.10) additional fields can be saved. It's the only way to squeeze non-official fields in a LAS file. And it may not be supported by all programs...

Hello,

Thanks for your fast response.
I was talking about the basic scalar fields that CC supports, like "user data, point source ID etc".
I downloaded 2.11 version and this is solved, as wells as the problem of importing .las files exported by CC.
