I'm really confused about the way CC manage project.
Why can't CC automatically generate a new cloud from a process? You merge 2 clouds and it changes one of the two instead of giving you a new merged-cloud (I'm really confused since segmenting tool DO provide you with a new cloud).
The fact that you can't re-order/rename items in the DBtree makes it really hard to see/understand what you are doing. After doing some operations I got 2 clouds with the exact same names and it became hard to differentiate them.

I'm venting a bit because I wanted to clone 2 clouds but ended up merging them by accident as the two button are next to each other and I slipped. Since you can't undo mistakes I had to redo everything...

Well, it depends on when the tool has been developed (and by who ;). But in the case of 'merge', the aim was to minimize the amount of memory used overall.

And:
- you can reorder items, just drag and drop them under the same parent (they will be put at the end of the list)
- you can rename them (just press F2 or double-click on the item in the DB tree)

The good thing is that since CC is an open-source tool, anyone is free to improve it ;). And no one is paid to do this work...

And it is very thoughtful. However it would be nice to have a tickbox like "merge as new cloud" for when you work with small point clouds. Beside What you might actually do is clone it before merging so in the end isn't it also memory consuming? (genuinely curious).
I've worked with other resource consuming softwares like QGIS where huge operations could still be processed as new entity. It took times but in the end it was easier to avoid mistake.

Thanks you! Even though I did google it I managed to miss it! Working with other spatial analysis software I took the habit to right click and avoid double clicking.

I gladly recognize that my tone might have been too hard. I can't be thankful enough for the colossal amount of work behind the curtains of every free softwares!
