Hi Daniel,
i imported a ply-file (hematoma on a women`s back - see appendix) to cloudcompare for unfolding the incurved surface (skin). But it fails soon at the beginning :-( because unfold-icon is disabled.
Thank you for help.
Robert

Which "unfold" icon are you referring to? Is it the "Tool > Projection > Unroll" tool?

(and which version are you using?)

I would like use the "unfold"-icon (Tool\Segmentation\Extract sections/Unfold) because the curve of the surface (human skin) does have a various radius.

I vave newest version, 2.11.3 (Anoia), Windows 64 bit, since yesterday. The version I had before was 2.9.?? and there was the same problem; the unfold-icon was disabled. My hope was that this problem would be solved if I install the newest version.

Ok I understand now. However, the 'Unfold' tool can only be used on clouds (and you might have a mesh here?). Moreover, it's not easy to use it to unfold a curved surface in this way (it's not impossible though if you can align the cloud so that you see if "from the side" when projecting it along the main X, Y or Z directions).

You can convert a mesh to a dense point cloud via the "Edit > Mesh > Sample points". But in the end you'll have an unfolded point cloud...
