Performance issue

Hi.

Just wondered if someone can help me. I am using CC for the first time, and am experiencing so much lag and slowness it's unusable.

I'm trying to do a cross section through a point cloud and I just see the spinning grey dots in the corner of the display window and the cross section option is greyed out in the menu.

The point cloud is 2.1GB, but opens fine and runs really smoothly in all other software I use it in (Recap, Inventor, QTR etc).

My PC is i9-9980HK, 128GB RAM, 8GB Quadro RTX4000 GPU, and M.2 NVMe SSDs so it shouldn't be slow.

I've set CC to use the Nvidia GPU in the Nvidia control panel.

Any advice much appreciated. I have heard CC does some really useful stuff so would love to be able to use it.

Thanks

The spinning grey dots in the corner just mean that the 'LoD' structure is being computed in the background normally (you can disable it in the 'Display > Display settings' menu: uncheck the 'Decimate clouds over XXX points...' option).

Then, to enable the cross section tool, as most of the tools in CC, you have to highlight the cloud(s) first.

Thanks. That is definitely helpful, but I'm still getting this all the time - the whole program locking up every time I do anything (see attached image)...

I don't always get the "Not responding" message box, but I do find that the whole interface freezes for 5-15 secs every time I do anything...

Any other ideas?

Thanks a lot

Edit - it won't let me attach a screenshot for some reason

Hum, no, that's a little bit strange (especially since I've almost exactly the same setup, with a i9 and a Quadro RTX 4000 card).

How many points in your cloud do you have? And when you say "I'm still getting this all the time" --> is it with any point cloud? Whatever the size?
