error loading .bin files in MacOS version 2.11.1

Using Cloudcompare v. 2.11.1 on MacOS. Not able to open .bin files and error reads: "This version of cloud compare is too old and can't load this file, sorry."
Its the most recent CC version. If anyone has any ideas thanks very much...

That means the file your trying to load either came from someone who compiled 2.12 on Mac, Windows, Linux, or downloaded the alpha prebuilt binary on windows.
depending on how complex the file is you could possibly open the file in 2.12 and then save as another file type to open on the 2.11 Mac.
I am not a Mac guy, but I am working on making a 2.12 Mac release, I have it compiling and running local but not in a condition to pack up and release.

Thanks for the reply WargodHernandez! Its my masters project, and the original file (6.5 GB, built from LiDAR scan) was given to me by someone working on PC, so I will assume they were on the newer 2.12 version. Total noob here, thanks for the help! Seems like Mac is not the best way to go for this.
