Hi, Daniel,
The question I have was already posted by berniejconnors » Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:18 pm:
"I cannot reliably select the point cloud by clicking on it in the 3D view. I managed it once or twice. Why would that be? "
Exactly the same is happening to me. I could select the pointcloud exactly once, change the visible SF and everything. Since then, nothing happens when I try to select the point cloud to change something. No bounding box, no 'selected entity' active, no possibility of changing the looks of the cloud except for shading. Is there a way around? I read you mean it's something with the OpenGL, but again, why would it work once and never again? I'm using v1.40 of CCViewer. Is there a newer one to download?
Best regards
CCviewer- not able to pick the pointcloud
Re: CCviewer- not able to pick the pointcloud
Well, on my side it seems to work fine with version 1.40 (and yes, that's the latest one).
Some drivers are bad with (GL) point picking, this is why I thought it could come from the driver (but as to know why it would work the first time...).
Mind that if your cloud is not dense enough, it might be hard to select a point (but in this case you would just need to zoom out to increase the density). You can also try to increase the point size (with ALT + mouse wheel).

Re: CCviewer- not able to pick the pointcloud
Hi Daniel,
I didn't want to pick a point in the point cloud, rather the whole point cloud, so that the bounding box appears and the option 'selected entity' becomes active in order to have access to the submenu where we can change the visible SF. That is not working. Picking a point is also not very easy but it works more often than picking the whole cloud.
Thanks

Yes, that's the same mechanism. We use OpenGL picking in both cases. And my answer was regarding entity selection ;)
