Generating first point-cloud

Hi, I would like to generate my first point-cloud in CloudCompare from simple video.
I know how to make video into single photos (e.g. 10 frames per second). I never used CloudCompare before. Would you recommend me simple tutorial of how to let CloudCompare generate my first point cloud?
What is really important for me is to preserve the original colors.
