Hello,
I am a graduate student trying to characterized the surface of 3D printed polymer surfaces. I am new to surface analysis and the laser scanner I use exports as a PCD file. I have filtered most of the noise out, is there a feature in CloudCompare that can file in the voids shown in the image below?
Thanks for the guidance,
Seth

Re: Turning PCD to mesh, 3D printed surface
To fill the holes, you would have to mesh this surface first (ideally with Poisson Surface Reconstruction, you'll just need to compute 'Normals' first - it should be easy to properly orient them as it seems they all point upward).
And then you can sample points on the resulting mesh.
